Indications, not indications and contraindications of vaccination

The tetanus vaccination is certainly the most debated among the many that are proposed today because, even for many parents who firmly reject all the other vaccines, the tetanus vaccination certainly still raises many doubts and perplexities.

The authors of this booklet, who have been interested in the clinical effects of vaccinations for many years and have written various books on this topic, after a long and careful examination of the scientific literature, offer the reader the results of their studies and their experience by describing, in a very simple language and therefore accessible to non-doctors, the most correct field of application of the tetanus vaccine, but also the methods and times of administration of this drug, the its contraindications and its always possible adverse reactions.

The purpose of this book is to inform in order to allow a conscious choice on this vaccination, especially today where many health advice is justified more by the goal of safeguarding the doctor from legal retaliation than from the desire to do the real interest. of the sick.

"The scientific community works to produce arguments that best support the theory in force in its historical period": this is 'normal science' according to Thomas Samuel Kuhn. But is this true science?
Vaccinations, in the context of this 'science', still represent a topic not to be questioned, a topic that cannot bear critical reflections.
Very often the health policies concerning vaccinations do not take into proper consideration precisely those data and statistics that the information and epidemiological services provide, but continue to follow an obsolete practice in the unconscious and senseless defense of the cultural and economic interests of those who operate in this sector.
Here then is the aim of this book: to take stock of knowledge on vaccination against tetanus.
Tetanic disease has particularities that make it unique among all infectious diseases. For example, perhaps not everyone knows that:

  • The tetanus bacillus lives as a harmless commensal in the intestinal tract of many animals and also of man himself. Any healthy person could harbor the tetanus bacillus in his or her gut.
  • The tetanic spores survive in our body for months or years without germinating: their survival, germination or elimination depend on the strength of our immune system.
  • The tetanus bacillus is not a germ per se dangerous, but the toxin it produces is dangerous and it is not produced in the presence of oxygen. That's why the first tetanus therapy is the correct treatment of wounds.
  • The risk of tetanus occurs mainly in the case of deep wounds with the presence of a foreign body or earth inside them, especially in the presence of tissue necrosis, that is, when poor cleaning is associated with a reduced vascularization and oxygenation of the area.
  • Today, in our country, tetanus does not affect children, but almost exclusively affects adults and the elderly.
  • Tetanus is more frequent in unvaccinated individuals, but it can also affect people completely immunized by vaccination.
  • The decline in tetanus disease that has occurred in the last few decades does not seem to have been influenced much by the vaccine, but especially by the improved sanitation of the population and by the more effective first aid interventions in case of risk wounds.
  • The scientific literature provides many data on the presence of adequate natural immunity against tetanus; that is, many subjects, even young children, have a protective amount of tetanus antibodies despite never having been vaccinated.
  • Before a tetanus vaccination, in order to avoid the serious dangers of hyperimmunization that opens the way to a multitude of damage from tetanus vaccine, the dosage of plasma antibodies against tetanus is recommended..
  • Our Ministry of Health has established that a plasma rate ten times higher than that proposed by international scientific studies should be considered as protective (higher than 0,1 IU / ml instead of 0,01 IU / ml), in this way many adequately protected subjects are also unprotected.
  • The proposed vaccination sheet does not consider neonatal vaccination, too dangerous and completely useless at that age, but instead recommends starting at an older age which must be chosen from time to time and which depends on the immune and environmental conditions of the subject considered to be at risk of tetanus, then making decades-long calls with checks every 10 years on the plasma rates to ensure that the coverage antibody remains adequate.

Here are the main topics of this book: topics that touch each person closely, because everyone, children and adults, can meet the tetanus spores and we must know the most correct way to manage this eventuality.
