Chinese lawmakers propose to publish vaccine control reports

BEIJING, Dec 29 - Chinese lawmakers have asked for vaccine control reports to be published after authorities have approved them. The proposal was presented on Friday in a resolution on a draft law on vaccine management, presented for the first reading at the bimonthly session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC, Chinese parliament).

According to committee member Li Yuefeng, the bill should establish the publication of a detailed report on the results of vaccine control, in order to guarantee the public's right to transparency. Wu Weihua, vice president of the committee, suggested that vaccine research and development should be registered by government departments when the vaccine involves virulent or contagious pathogens.

Another committee member, Wu Heng, called for changes to the bill to intensify supervision and improve logistics management, including temperature control.

During the group's deliberation, other suggestions were made, such as strengthening the control and inspection of imported vaccines and drawing up a more specific guideline on vaccine prices.
