Vaccination policies

In Sweden, vaccinations are not mandatory. The Swedish population has a strong awareness of the importance of personal freedom and individual rights.
Sweden has fewer vaccines in the "childhood vaccination program" than the United States.

For military service, vaccines are mandatory.

We see a strong push for vaccinations from the government and the media, and there is great pressure from national health authorities towards greater compliance with vaccination programmes.

The policy is that if parents do not agree to vaccinate their child, there will be no vaccination. This is the same practice as in Denmark.

School

There are no requirements that children must have been vaccinated in order to enter kindergarten or school.

homeschooling

Homeschooling has no tradition in Sweden and is almost non-existent. The new school law explicitly states that it is not permitted except in extraordinary circumstances.

Since education in Swedish schools must always be comprehensive and objective, and be organized so that everyone can participate, regardless of their religious beliefs or philosophical beliefs, the legislator has drawn the conclusion that there is no need for any regulation that empowers parents to provide homeschooling for their children. However, the Education Act recognizes that there may be exceptional circumstances which may constitute a reason for allowing a child to fulfill the duty to participate in compulsory education in a way other than attending school.
